Putting the Arbitrary in Arbitration
The Chief Arbiter: For clarification of the rules, or for rulings on items not covered here or in the rules, contact the WITH(e)R Arbiter.
TBD has foolishly volunteered to continue be our Chief Arbitrary Arbiter of Justice for the 2019-2020 WITH(e)R Cup. Long live the King!
If you need a ruling on mileage*, weather or cheating**; TBD and his dedicated staff shall rule in a fair***, or at least unbiased, manner.
Announcing the Dedicated Deputies of Arbitrary Arbitration!
Boston: Avi Kurlantzick
Cambridge: Adam Geernaert
San Francisco: <this could be you!>
These fine folk will make local and by-site ruling on routes, weather related items, and such.
The Office of Arbitrary Arbitration recognizes hard work of our Chief Detective: Kevin Wolfe (KSEA) for the 2017-2018 and upcoming 2018-2019 season. He is often working undercover patrolling our Strava district.
Process for Requesting Arbitrary Arbitration:
Requests for rules clarification, rule changes, and for by-site exemptions contact your site focal WITH(e)R Arbiter, who will allow or deny your request. All such requests will be made public and posted by the Arbiter on the Strava Club Page and open for comment by any competitor.
The web page is at: https://www.strava.com/clubs/232708/discussion
Ownership and editing rights of the rules, point structure, special rulings, and the Arbitration section of the WITH(e)R web page are the sole providence of the Chief Arbitrary Arbiter of Justice, and the by-site Dedicated Deputies of Arbitrary Arbitration.
Violators of the rules may by subject to an Arbitrary reduction in points as determined by the WITH(e)R Arbiter at the site where the infraction, or despicable act occurs. Charles is a High School Varsity level basketball referee in the Seattle metro area. He has no problem issuing Technical Fouls, and any point deduction(s) when he deems necessary.
Bribery is discouraged, but not explicitly forbidden by the WITH(e)R Cup Constitution. Hint: Charles loves pizza, nerf guns, and USB toys.
You got a problem with that? Talk to your site-focal Arbiter.
The Members from The Office of Arbitrary Arbitration are Allowed to Compete:
With great power comes added responsibility and scrutiny. Requests made by a member of The Office of Arbitrary Arbitration for route changes, weather related point issues, point deductions to competitors, and any other ruling where the requester may benefit from a ruling cannot be decided by that member(s).
Rulings on requests from Dedicated Deputies of Arbitrary Arbitration will be made by the Chief Arbitrary Arbiter of Justice. Requests from the Chief Arbiter will be reviewed by the Dedicated Deputies and a majority vote by a determined deadline date will decide the outcome. In the event of a tie the Chief’s request shall be denied.
WITH(e)R Constitution:
Someone somewhere is working on a final draft of the WITH(e)R Constitution - in the meantime, watch this video of monkeys riding bikes:
* Ballots may have been lost in the mail. Sorry about that.
** Like if you notice someone get off the bus at 3rd and Pike and then log a 4 mile commute.
*** Fairness is open for interpretation. If you think the Arbiter is being unfair, talk to the Arbiter about it. We're working on a better system of checks and balances in the aforementioned WC Constitution.
